Excerpt from the speech of His Serene Highness Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Emir of Kuwait to the World Summit for the Adoption of the Development Agenda beyond 2015 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York

“Targeted sustainable development faces major challenges because of human behavior patterns throughout the ages as well as the impact of natural disasters and global warming, which increases our responsibility, as the goals of sustainable development require us to work in innovative and predictable ways to keep pace with the development needs and requirements of the implementation of the Development Agenda beyond 2015 with a view to poverty eradication by 2030, through international collective action and effective global partnership in accordance with the principle of shared responsibility, taking into account the differences in burdens, in this regard, Kuwait stresses the need for developed countries to fulfill their commitment to allocate 0.7% of their gross national product to ensure developing countries receive sustainable financing, in affirmation of the commitments made by the international community.”
